Quiz make-ups at lunch Wednesday

Our next day for quiz make-ups will be Wednesday 5/9.  I will be in my classroom at lunch.

AP Review Dates

We will have review sessions for the AP Government exam on the following days:

Wednesday, April 25th from 2:00-3:00

Saturday, April 28th from 9:00-11:00am 

Monday, April 30th from 2:00-3:00

You are invited to attend all or some or none of these dates.  We will be meeting in my classroom. 

Practice Quizzes and Test Make-ups

AP Students - 

I just put practice quizzes for Chapter 17-20 on Moodle (edonline.cathedralcatholic.org).

For your Unit 5 Test you will need to know all of Chapter 17 as well as the following sections of the other chapters:

Ch 18

-       Public Policy and the Budget

Ch 19

-       Development of the American Welfare State

-       Social Security

-       Health Care

Ch 20

-       Making Foreign Policy: The Constitutional Context

-       Making Foreign Policy: Organization and Cast 

All students - 

We will have test and quiz make-ups on Friday at lunch. (AP students can also do Test corrections if I have the tests graded by then).

Practice Quizzes

AP government students -

I told Gold 4 today that I would try to put some practice quizzes on Moodle to help you prepare for the Unit 4 Test next week.

I was able to put up a practice quiz for each chapter that will be on the test (11, 12, 13, 14).  The way the quiz is set you should be able to take the quiz as many times as you want. However, it will not immediately give you the correct answer the way I explained in class.  You can still answer the questions over and over if you want to until you get the answer correct.

This is completely optional.  The only way it will effect your grade is if it helps you prepare for the test and you get a better test grade.

Quiz make-ups tomorrow (Quarter ends Friday!)

Tomorrow at lunch is your last opportunity to make up missing quizzes or tests or do test corrections before the end of the quarter.  You will still be able to make up missing assessments or do corrections after tomorrow but it will not effect your 3rd qtr grade.

Extra Credit opportunity - State of the Union Address

Tonight President Obama is delivering the State of the Union address.  It begins at 6pm.

You can watch it on many TV stations but I'm going to watch it on whitehouse.gov because "you’ll be able to see charts, stats and data that helped inform President Obama’s policy decisions as he delivers his speech to the nation." This is something new and I recommend you check it out.

There are two ways to potentially earn extra credit:

1. Watch the speech and participate in a chat on Moodle in Gov Chat. (Regular Gov students, please join the AP Gov Chat.  Their enrollment key is the same as your enrollment key.)

2. Play State of the Union Bingo. Print out one of the cards and fill it out as you go.  You must fill it your card correctly and accurately to earn points.  Don't fake it - I'll know.

I think it will be fun to do both.  Play bingo AND participate in the chat. It will be like virtual Bingo.  If you win, you can type BINGO!!!! as if you are shouting.


This will be so fun.

quiz/test make-ups change

I have to go to a meeting tomorrow at lunch.  I was not informed of this meeting until today but I am sorry for the last-minute change. We will do make-ups and test corrections at lunch on Friday (1/27) instead.

Quiz make-up date change

I'm sorry but we have to change quiz make-ups from today at lunch to Thursday (1/12) at lunch. I have a meeting to go to at lunch today.

Our first quiz make-up day will be Tuesday, Jan 10. Come to my classroom at lunch.

Also, our first Extra Credit opportunity is this Saturday.  If you tune in to the Republican Debate at 6pm Saturday and participate in the chat room you can receive some extra credit.
